The Dixon Area Christian Ministerial Association invites you to a special service to honor those who serve our community and make it a place to come home to. Dixon Police Chief Danny Langloss and KSB EMS Coordinator Doug Sears will be speaking about the sacrifices made by those who serve on behalf of our community's residents. At a time when our city is going through so much turmoil, this will be an opportunity to remind the many good people who serve us that we appreciate everything they do.

The service will be held in the Dixon YMCA gymnasium at 7:00 pm on Thursday May 3^rd.This event is sponsored by the Dixon YMCA and the Dixon Area Christian Ministerial Association.

You are invited to attend the Fiesta Gala on Friday, May 4, 2012.  The Fiesta, is the 2012 version of the Dixon Area Chamber of Commerce's annual Gala fundraiser.  The Fiesta is at Dixon Elks Lodge #779 located just east of Dixon on Route 38.  The theme is Cinco de Mayo and the attire is business casual.  Cocktails and silent auctions begin at 6:00 pm, followed by dinner and dessert and live auctions.  Tickets are $55 per person.  Advance reservations required. The Champions4Children Walk in conjunction with Shining Star Children’s Advocacy Center and the Children’s Advocacy Center of Illinois (CACI) will be held at 10 a.m. at Lowell Park in Dixon. The Walk will raise money, through pledges and sponsorships, for the 38 Children’s Advocacy Centers in Illinois, which serve 95 of the state’s 102 counties. Second Saturdays in Downtown Dixon -- Second Saturdays is a monthly cultural event. Every second Saturday, from 6 - 8 pm, downtown businesses and organizations host a variety of art happenings such as visual artist work, musical performances, theatrical skits, poetry readings, and more. Select retail merchants also offer Second Saturdays specials for the evening. A Fundraiser Dinner for the Dixon Municipal Band will be on May 18, 2012, at the Brandywine Inn along Route 2 in Dixon.

Silent auction, cash bar, and entertainment begin at 5 pm and continue throughout the evening. An Italian buffet will be served from 6:30, followed by a live auction.
