Transportation
- The area is connected to Midwest markets and strategically located 100 miles west of downtown Chicago. It is located near seven major Interstate Highways and networked to many State and Federal Highway routes as well.
- Even with this key location near the Chicago area, which handles more freight than any other city in the country, getting people and goods in and out of the Area is easy.
- The main East-West line of the Union Pacific Railroad passes through Dixon, Franklin Grove and Ashton. In our logistics corridor there are six other major rail lines as well.
- The newest Union Pacific Intermodal "Global III" is only 23 miles form the Illinois Route 26 and Interstate 88 interchange at Dixon. Global III can handle 750,000 containers per year.
- United Parcel Service - UPS has its hub at the Rockford airport only a short haul away.
- Chicago O'Hare and Midway are less than two hours and Illinois Quad City Airport is just over an hour offering additional passenger and freight options.
- Barge, River and Water transport options are available nearby on both the Illinois and Mississippi Rivers and Lake Michigan providing access to the North Atlantic and Gulf of Mexico.
